There is a mental health crisis in Arkansas. Nationwide there are on average 11.4 psychiatrists per 100,000 U.S. residents, while the estimate for Arkansas is only 5.2. Furthermore, the distribution of psychiatrists is unequal across the state, with Little Rock having 9.2 while Northwest Arkansas has a paltry 3.2 psychiatrists per 100,000 residents. As the Chairman of Psychiatry for Northwest Health, is not uncommon for me to see patients forced to wait 5 months or more to see a psychiatrist. I find this as shocking as I do unacceptable. As such, it is our goal to provide compassionate, individualized, and effective care without the long waits that have plagued our region. This is a goal we will meet and I personally guarantee that we will set the bar for psychiatric care in the state of Arkansas.
We have recently relocated our practice from the Little Rock area. When we made the move, 18 employees that I worked with uprooted their families and moved hundreds of miles away for one reason and one reason only: They believed my program helped people and they wanted to continue to be a part of it.
At Pinnacle Premier Psychiatry we intend to expend every resource and exhaust every avenue of treatment to improve your life.
As a physician, I am ashamed when I hear patients say that their doctors don’t listen to them or don’t believe that their psychiatric problems are “real.” According to the National Institute of Mental Health, depression is the number one reason Americans are forced to miss work. It is estimated that this leads to $23 billion dollars in lost productivity.
I have seen patients thoroughly crippled by panic attacks to the point they cannot function or even leave their homes and I’ve treated anxiety and OCD severe to the point that high functioning people have had to leave their jobs or have suffered to the point that even their loved ones were no longer capable or willing to help them.
I have also witnessed firsthand the disheartening and needless loss of potential because a student with promise suffered from undiagnosed and untreated ADHD.
Well….these problems certainly seem “real” to me.
We are here to help you overcome your mental health issues. We want you to be able to function at the highest level possible. We will be targeting your specific symptoms as opposed to pigeonholing you into a “label” or a diagnosis that may not precisely fit what is actually hindering the happiness you deserve. It is our belief that such individualized care leads to the best results and will get you on the path to feeling better much faster.
Most folks who find themselves at this point have already sought help from their primary care providers. It’s also quite likely they have seen or are currently seeing a psychiatrist. While today’s healthcare model limits physician’s time with patients, our physicians and providers strive to ensure you are being heard and that we spend appropriate time with you to meet your needs. Furthermore, in my 15 year career I have had in excess 175,000 patient visits. It is quite likely that that I have come across and successfully treated symptoms quite similar to your own….there is hope for you.
